Merlot often comes off as a very serious person - they very much do take any work or job they're given very seriously, and are a hard worker who organizes and leads very well. They're excellent at public speaking and know how to be very convincing with their words. They care deeply for the cause of defendings others' rights to belong and be treated equally, and also tend to give very good advice. They can be rather impatient and get frustrated easily with people who don't listen or are arrogant.
Biography:
Merlot was born an only child, and was loved above everything else by her parents. They inherited deafness from their father genetically, so from a young age both of their parents raised them to be fluent in ASL and in SSE. However, they also received assistance in learning how to speak verbally.
Growing up, Merlot was a very serious and organizational child, but they also had a heart for those who were suffering. They aggressively stuck up for anyone they saw being bullied, even when it put them in emotional or physical danger. Their parents had taught them from the moment they could understand to love and respect everybody, and she always took this to heart.
When they were 10, Merlot was diagnosed with a degenerative disease that was slowly deteriorating their eyesight, and would leave them legally blind by their mid teens. They often recall that if it weren't for the support of their parents they would never have been able to navigate their coming life with the positivity and hope that they do, and they continued to receive support in learning how to prepare for being blind.
Merlot went to college for accounting, having always been heavily organizational and good with numbers. However, during their time in college they also became heavily involved with activism both on campus and around their home moon. They participated in rallies, petitions, speeches, and more defending the rights of people of color, disabled people, and etc. They became a known face with organizations that were helping defend human rights in different categories, and it meant a lot to them to be able to help people in this way.
As an adult with an accounting job, Merlot is still a common figure in many movements on their moon for supporting the rights of marginalized groups. They live with their two girlfriends and are continuing to carve out a path where they can support the people around them and make their world a better place, often crediting their parents for giving them such a passion to do so.
